Effective February 1, 2018, the City assumed ownership and operation of the Greater Bluefield Community Center. The Community Center will be operated by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, under the direction of Charles Ridlehuber. We have extended employment offers to all of the Community Center employees, and are happy to report that several have decided to join the team. We do not anticipate making any operational or program changes during the first few months, which we will use to learn about the facility, the needs of the existing members, and how the facility can best serve the community. There may be a few “bumps in the road” as this change occurs, and we hope that you will bear with us. Our goal is to preserve and enhance this facility and its programs, so that it can benefit all of our citizens for decades to come.
