The City of Bluefield is pleased to announce the official dedication of Bishop Clarence E. Moore Park, located at the corner of Pulaski and Park Streets, Bluefield, West Virginia, directly across from the Greater Mount Zion Pentecostal Church. The dedication ceremony will take place on October 8, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the park.
Bishop Clarence E. Moore (1930-2020) was the pastor of Bluefield’s Greater Mount Zion Pentecostal Church, located across directly across Park Street from this park. Bishop Moore served as pastor of the church from 1953 until his passing. He guided the Church as it grew from a small congregation on Reese Street to a congregation of hundreds housed in the former Park Central High School. Bishop Moore was consecrated as Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A.W.) in 1994. His ministry, which began here in Bluefield, ultimately reached the entire world in his role of Chairman of Foreign Missions for the P.A.W.
